WSQ Perform Design and Installation of Photovoltaic (PV) Systems

What is this course about?

The Process Workforce Skills Qualifications (Process WSQ) is a national continuing education and training system designed for adult workers, jointly by the industry and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG), to determine the competencies required by the Process Industry. It aims to support and facilitate specialized training and skills development to enhance the workforce, which will lead to an increase in the industry's overall competitiveness and productivity.

Course Synopsis

Globally, climate change is giving a strong impetus to countries searching for alternative energy sources to supplement power generation and to reduce carbon emissions.

Recent advancements in photovoltaic (PV) and inverter technology, resulting in better efficiencies and performance, have helped to promote PV systems as a reliable source of renewable energy.

The Code of Practice for Electrical Installation, CP5 :1998 - Amendment No 1 Section 612(L) incorporates provisions for design and installation of grid connected PV systems.

Engineers and licensed electrical workers (LEWs) will need the additional competencies to integrate this new technology to buildings.

The course provides a sound theoretical foundation and industry-relevant practical skills on designing and installing PV systems.

Participants will learn to perform PV system design, wire and terminate PV modules to inverters and use measuring and testing tools to commission a functional PV system.

This course is a module (Competency Code PI-EM-316E-1) in the
Singapore Workforce Skill Qualification (WSQ) in Process Technology (Energy Management).
