WSQ Student Care Programme

 

 

What is this course about?

 

This course is designed as a starter-kit to induct staff from school-based and community-based centres into the new Student Care Centre (SCC) programme. It aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to plan programmes that cater to a child’s developmental and learning needs. The training also draws attention to the importance of engaging stakeholders and communities in fostering a safe, caring and conducive environment within the SCCs that supports learning.

 


Suitable for

 

New staff in the SCCs and PMETs who are keen to join the SCC sector.

 


Assumed Skills and Knowledge

 

Secondary school education or equivalent with medium of instruction in English

 

(Important Note)

  • Participants must be proficient in English (“O” level English Language: C6 or better).
  • All lessons, and written and oral assessments will be conducted only in English.
  • Participants who are weak in spoken and/ or written English may have difficulties completing and/or attaining competency for this course

 


Funding Incentives

1. Baseline Funding

Eligibility Criteria:
a) Singaporean or Permanent Residents (Company or Self Sponsored) aged 21 years old and above
b) Sponsoring companies must be registered and/or incorporated in Singapore and must fully sponsor the course fee
c) Participants must:
i.  achieve at least 75% attendance
ii.  Complete and certified competent through all required assessments
iii. Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

Participants who have been granted the SkillsFuture funding but fail to meet the above requirements would be liable for the subsidised course fee.

2. Enhanced Workfare Training Support (WTS) Scheme
 
With effect from 1 July 2013, if you are a Singapore citizen aged 35 years or over, have a monthly income of not more than $1,900, you can enjoy 95% subsidy of your course fee for a wider range of courses covering all Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ ) courses, Academic Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses approved by the Ministry of Education (MOE), as well as Certifiable Skills Training courses accredited or supported by the SkillsFuture Funding (SSG). You may also be eligible for a training allowance* if you sign up forany WTS qualifying courses on your own without the support of your employer and successfully complete it. In addition, you may receive cash awards* for completing training.

3. Skills Future Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

With effect from 1st October 2015, Singaporeans aged 40 years and above will enjoy higher subsidies of up to 90% of course fees under the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy scheme.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Singaporean aged 40 years and above at the point of enrolment
- Achieve at least 75% attendance in the course
- Complete and pass all required assessments
- Complete post-training surveys conducted between 3-6 months after course end

4. Absentee Payroll Funding

Companies can claim absentee payroll funding when they sponsor their employees for the academic CET programmes.

5. UTAP (Union Training Assistance Programme)

This course consists of 2 modules which will be offered on a modular basis.
 

Module (CS-SH-203C-1) :      Respond to Illness, Accidents and Emergencies 
•           Identify Responsibilities under Workplace Safety and Health Act
•           Assist with Infection Control and Infection Prevention
•           Respond to Signs of Illness and Accidents
•           Respond to Incidents and Emergencies
 
Module (STC-CSV-215E-1)  :  Support the Development of Children 7-14 Years
•           Create Challenging and Developmentally Appropriate Environments to Support the Development of Student  Aged 7 – 14 years
•           Support the Physical Development of Students Aged 7-14 years
•           Support the Social and Emotional Development of Students aged 7-14 years
•           Support the Language Development of Students Aged 7-14 years
•           Support the Creative Development of Students Aged 7-14 years
•           Support the Cognitive Development of Students Aged 7-14 years

 


Mode of Assessment

Participants are required to undertake continuous assessments, assignments and written test.

A project work will have to be completed at the end of the course.


Certification

 

Participant who meet the 75% attendance and passed all the assessments required by the course will be awarded 2 Statement of Attainment from SSG (WSQ Student Care Centre).

Upon completing the online registration, please submit the following:
 
1. Photocopy (back and front) of NRIC for Singaporeans and PRs, or “Employment”/ “S” Pass for foreign applicant
 
2. Recent payslip or income statement

3. Declaration Form (For company-sponsor participants, please make sure Training Grant Application Reference Number is filled in) 
 
IMPORTANT: Applications without ALL of the above required supporting documents will be considered
incomplete and rejected. Singapore Polytechnic regrets that we will not be able to inform applicants of the incomplete documentation nor disclose the reasons for selection/non-selection of applicants.

Please note that an administrative charge of $15 will be imposed for any returned cheques from the bank or financial institution.

2. All successful applicants will be notified with a letter of confirmation via email.

3. Withdrawal and Deferment

Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy via email to [email protected]. For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

• 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
• Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
• On or after date of commencement - No refund
The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.

The data provided to Singapore Polytechnic will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for the purpose of course administration. The data may be passed on to the relevant organisations that require the information related to the course.

3. Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy (90%) / SME Funding (90%)

HOW TO APPLY

3) Upon completing your online application, please make the payment of course fee.

4) You will receive a ‘class list’ email which will include payment of course fee information.

5) You will receive an email when the course is confirmed.

6) Kindly note that individual participants are required to undergo a short interview with the course coordinator upon registration. Individual participant's placement will only be confirmed after the session. Details of the interview will be informed via email around 2 weeks before the start of the class.
