Division of Architecture 1st Year (DARCH) AY 09/10

A 1 day trip to Kluang to visit a tile factory to learn the inner workings and processes of making the product. Students appreciate the beauty of the tiles and learn the appropriate application to their projects.

The Study Trip was an experience in a tropical resort situated at Turi Beach, Batam. The objective of the trip was to enable students to learn about tropical design principles from the architecture of the resort.

Finland, 7th to 13th August 2009

Division of Architecture 3rd Year (DARCH) AY 09/10

ABE organized a week-long overseas study trip for 4 Diploma in Architecture students. The trip comprised participation in the biennial Alvar Aalto Symposium followed by a “once-in-a-lifetime” architectural tour of over 19 key architectural projects in Jvkyl Tampere, Rauma, Turku and Helsinki.

3rd year students from DARCH had the opportunity to attend the yearly DATUM:KL forum. It is an architectural conference organised by PAM which has gained a reputation for harnessing stimulating and distinguished speakers debating current issues in architecture.

Led by 6 lecturers, 74 Year 2 students from Division of Architecture and Division of Landscape Architecture set off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It was the first combined field trip for Architecture and Landscape Year 2 students.

Hong Kong Study Trip, 23rd to 26th March 2009

The inaugural Study Trip to Hong Kong took place from 23rd to 26th March 2009. Site visits were made to Theme Parks - Disneyland Hong Kong and Ocean Park, major trade show venue - the Asia World Expo.
