Curriculum Focus

DFI prepares you to work in the finance sector as well as in the function of risk management, analytics, technology and operations across sectors.

The curriculum offers broader picture of an organisation, and allows you to see multiple perspectives of the same problem. For instance, you learn to invest and concurrently learn to manage the relevant risk. You learn how financial products work end-to-end enterprise wide and hence better appreciate the interdependencies of issues and departments.

The curriculum also strikes to develop versatile skill sets that minimise cross functional barriers. You know the financial markets and the theories, and is also technically competent in using technological tools to harness the data for market intelligence.

Theories are reinforced with hands-on practicum and projects that matter. Team learning is ingrained in the curriculum to cultivate collaboration and interpersonal skills. Applied learning will be intensified through working on capstone projects and internship in your third year of study.

Prospects

DFI graduates have a wider option when come to career options as well as choices for further study. This is due to its unique curriculum focus that is not merely focused on developing financial and risk management competencies, but also harnessing practical skill sets critical for various functions across different sectors. For examples, data analytics skills to optimise the use of data for business intelligence and problem solving skills through logic and algorithms are critical skill sets in many sectors.

DFI graduates can look forward to a wide range of career prospects as finance and risk professionals, or data analytics and information system specialists. As a fresh graduate, you may kick off your career either as an entry level officer or an assistant analyst in a bank, or a project assistant in the market intelligent department or operations and technology department of a multinational corporation. Over three to five years, you should be able to progress to an independent position to lead or supervise a team as risk analyst or manager, business and data analyst, market intelligent specialist, product controller or project manager.

DFI graduates have been successfully admitted into a variety of degree courses in Business, Finance, Analytics and Information System, and clinched various scholarships as well. For those we plan to kick off their careers immediately after their three years of studies, they can always purse other professional certifications at their own time to enhance their level of professional competency.
