While all plastics are polymers, not all polymers are plastics. Confused? No worries! Come and get your doubts and misconceptions cleared up at Polymer Science and Applications!
You will learn many facts about polymers, which literally mean "many parts, a reference to any material containing many chemically bonded units. One example of such a material is plastics.
In this module, you will see how plastics are formed or moulded into shape. You'll learn about two polymer cousins, Thermoplastics and Thermosetting Plastics, and how intimately their lives are entwined with ours. We'll show you the different polymerisation methods used to manufacture plastics. You can even produce your own plastic souvenirs.
Look around your home, and you see many items that are made of plastic. So come and learn all about this useful and important material. Without polymers, our lives would not be the same!
