The theme of this year's Archifest - Happy Cities, explores how cities can be engines of happiness, examining different definition of sense of place and spaces, to challenge conventional notions of sustainable urban living.

The fabric of a city can be read as a collage of experiences; a collective experience of physical forms and spaces as well as intangible senses, emotions, relationships and connectivity. The Object when given meaning starts to impact its environment and its occupants in intangible ways.

"...suddenly you touch my heart, you do me good, I am happy and I say: "This is beautiful." That is Architecture. Art enters in." - Le Corbusier

OBJECTS showcases the tactile works of students from Singapore Polytechnic Design School (Diploma of Interior Design), where refreshing ways of experiencing our built environment are investigated. Through examination of materiality and texture, this exhibition shows how tectonic qualities can possibly change the way we perceive spaces, interact and ultimately how we feel. OBJECTS features a collection of curios explored by interior design students, with techniques such as mapping, modulating and repetition, complex structures are fabricated, given purpose, meaning and even generate emotions.

Join us in our venture towards comprehending the art of urban joy. Start your experience of the happy city here by creating your own tactile work with our pencil rubbing template.
