Part-time Courses

Singapore Polytechnic will offer 5 new Part-Time Diploma courses in Engineering and Business starting in April 2012 (currently pending MOE’s Approval) which are designed for adult learners. The courses will have the flexibility of modular certificates leading to the Diploma qualification.

These are new Part-Time Diploma courses designed to better cater to the needs of working adults. Each diploma course comprises of five separate Modular Certificates (MCs), where the completion of each will result in an award of a Certificate. Each MC comprises of two to four modules and upon completion of the relevant five MCs within a five-year validity period, participants will be conferred a Diploma qualification from Singapore Polytechnic. The courses are compact, flexible and modular, thus allowing an adult learner to complete the course in two-and-a-half years.

1) Diploma in Engineering (Control & Automation)

Course Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                             
The course aims to train participants in the area of instrumentation, automation and control. The trainees can be from various fields of disciplines. The training will allow these trainees to obtain the basic knowledge and practical experience in instrumentation, automation and control area and to work more effectively in manufacturing, process and automation industries.

2) Diploma in Engineering (Power Engineering)

Course Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                             
The Diploma in Engineering (Power Engineering) course is to train specialists to work competently in the area of electrical installation, power transmission and distribution, as well as power system operation and protection.

3) Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace Technology)  

Course Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                             
The primary objective of the proposed course is providing working adults with the necessary skills and knowledge relevant to the Singapore aviation industry MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) sector. The broad-based engineering education with emphasis on all main aircraft maintenance activities also supplemented with communication and problem-solving skills will enable its graduates gain future career advancement in the Singapore aviation industry sector.

4) Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical Technology)   

Course Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                             
The main objective of the proposed course is to provide a broad-based Mechanical Engineering education to enable technologists to design, build, operate and maintain equipment ranging from simple devices to sophisticated machinery.  The modules have been carefully selected to address the necessary skills and knowledge required by a person who aspires career advancement.

5) Diploma in Business Practice (Business Management)

Course Objectives:                                                                                                                                                                             
The objective of the part-time diploma is to provide a broad-based business education with emphasis on key business functions as well as communication, information technology and problem-solving skills.  The modules have been carefully selected to address the necessary skills and knowledge required by a person who aspires career advancement.
