To many people, the term "Computer Engineering" would mean the study of computers (or PCs) and their use in our daily lives. However, there is much more than this. Computers are used in all aspects of our life, from large mainframe computers, personal computers, computer networks, data storage, television sets and household appliances to even the digital watch or the mobile hand-phone that we carry! The Diploma in Computer Engineering teaches you how to use computers and digital equipment to develop applications that can change your lifestyle and communicate with others over the internet.

As the field of Computer Engineering is so wide, we offer you a choice of crafting your own learning experiences. You can select modules and options to create a Generic Computer Engineering Course covering a wide number of topics or if you know what you want, select specific modules to specialize in the areas of your interest.

Our courses are flexible:

If you plan to join the workforce after Diploma, you can take up the career-oriented Diploma Plus Program, which will give you an extra edge in your job. The Diploma Plus Program is in addition to your diploma course.

If you plan to further your studies in the university after your diploma, you can enrol for Advanced Modules, in addition to your diploma course. You may also take up the Diploma Plus Program. The Advanced Modules and the Diploma Plus Program will give you a head start for your further studies.

In your first year, we will start by introducing you to the different building blocks that build up Computer and Digital Equipment. You will be introduced to electricity, how digital devices work and computer programming. You will also experience a project on building and programming your own robot!

In your second and third years, you then decide on which path to take. You will have the opportunity to choose electives and modules from the following areas:

  • Computer Applications

  • Computer Networking

  • Computer Security

  • Computer Systems

  • Business Studies(Third Year only).

If you desire an all-round appreciation of Computer Engineering, then you could select four different electives/options in both second and third years. This would give you a wide overview of the topics covered. However, if you would rather specialise, you could choose all four modules in Computer Networking and Security to become a Computer Network Specialist or perhaps choose all four modules in Computer Applications and Systems to be able to develop the next gaming console!

The choice is yours!
