Aim High with an SP Scholarship

SP offers an extensive range of scholarships to full-time, diploma course students. Scholarships are generally awarded to deserving students based on academic merit, outstanding co-curricular records, leadership qualities and special talents.

SP Scholarship

No. of Scholarships

  • Up to 30 prestigious, bond-free SP Scholarships are offered annually to newly enrolled 1st year students
  • Variable no. of bond-free, SP Scholarships are offered annually to 2nd year, full-time diploma course students who were invited to be in the SPOT programme, have achieved excellent academic results, demonstrated strong leadership qualities and diverse talents in their 1st year of study at SP.

Eligibility Criteria

  • for Singaporeans or Permanent Residents only
  • newly enrolled in a full-time, non-engineering diploma course at SP
  • excellent academic results (GCE 'O' levels ELR2B2 raw score of 10 and below, IP etc)
  • outstanding CCA records (Grade of A2 and above)
  • strong leadership potential and exemplary character

Tenure and Value of Award

  • an annual sponsorship of $2,500 per year (renewable every year - renewal of the scholarship is subject to good academic results and CCA records)
  • one-time notebook computer subsidy of $1,000 (for 1st year scholars only)
  • subsidies for enrichment programmes
  • participation in the SPOT (Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent) Program

Application

  • Only students who are enrolled in Singapore Polytechnic and who meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to apply for the SP Scholarship.
  • Email invites will be sent to eligible students by end of March.
  • Application will start on 1 April 2014 and close on 21 April 2014. Applicants should check the SP Student Administrative System for further instructions

SP Engineering Scholarship

No. of Scholarships

  • Up to 30 prestigious, bond-free SP Engineering Scholarships are offered annually to newly enrolled 1st year students in Engineering diploma courses
  • Variable no. of bond-free, SP Scholarships are offered annually to 2nd year, full-time diploma course students who were invited to be in the SPOT programme, have achieved excellent academic results, demonstrated strong leadership qualities and diverse talents in their 1st year of study at SP.

Eligibility Criteria

  • for Singaporeans or Permanent Residents only
  • newly enrolled in a full-time, engineering diploma course at SP
  • excellent academic results (GCE 'O' levels ELR2B2 raw score of 11 and below, IP etc), with excellent grades in Maths and Science - pure Science subjects preferred
  • outstanding CCA records (Grade of A2 and above)
  • strong leadership potential and exemplary character
  • passion for engineering

Tenure and Value of Award

  • an annual sponsorship of $2,500 per year (renewable every year - renewal of the scholarship is subject to good academic results and CCA records)
  • one-time notebook computer subsidy of $1,000 (for 1st year scholars only)
  • subsidies for enrichment programmes
  • participation in the SPOT (Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent) Program
  • participation in R & D attachments, engineering conferences and activities locally or overseas

  • Only students who are enrolled in Singapore Polytechnic and who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply for the SP Engineering Scholarship.
  • Email invites will be sent to eligible students by end of March.

SP-ITE Scholarship Scheme

No. of Scholarships

  • Up to 6 prestigious, bond-free scholarships offered annually

Eligibility Criteria

  • for Singaporeans or Permanent Residents only
  • newly enrolled in a full-time diploma course at SP
  • excellent Higher NITEC results (raw GPA = 3.8 and above) or NITEC results (raw GPA = 4.0)
  • Gold Medal award winners from ITE
  • outstanding CCA records
  • strong leadership potential and exemplary character

Tenure and Value of Award

  • an annual sponsorship of $2,500 per year (renewable every year - renewal of the scholarship is subject to good academic results and CCA records)
  • one-time notebook computer subsidy of $1,000
  • subsidies for enrichment programmes
  • participation in the SPOT (Singapore Polytechnic Outstanding Talent) Program

Note: SP-ITE Scholars may concurrently apply for the following scholarships administered by ITE:

  • The Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship To Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP) Award
  • The Tay Eng Soon Scholarship (TESS)

(Students who are awarded both the SP-ITE Scholarship and LKY-STEP Award will receive the SP-ITE Scholarship only in name without the monetary benefits).

SP Sports, Arts & Music Scholarship

No. of Scholarships

  • variable

Eligibility Criteria

  • for Singaporeans or Permanent Residents only
  • enrolled in any full-time diploma course at SP
  • excellent academic results
  • outstanding CCA records
  • strong leadership potential and exemplary character
  • excelled in, or contributed to, the music and arts scene locally or internationally (for Arts & Music)
  • outstanding sportsmen who have represented Singapore at the combined school or higher level (for Sports)

Tenure and Value of Award

  • an annual sponsorship of $2,000, renewable over 3 years

Application

  • Application opens from 1 April 2014 and closes on 9 May 2014
  • Applications forms can be downloaded here
  • A hardcopy of the application form can be picked up at the Department of Student Development

Selection Process

  • Short-listed applicants will be required to attend an interview session with the selection panel.
