The course aims to provide students with an understanding of operations of the humanitarian aid and relief industry. It will also inculcate in students the sense of civic-social responsibility. It provides opportunities to facilitate collaborative learning amongst students.
There are three modules in this course, namely, “Introduction to Humanitarian Assistance”, “International Relief & Development” and “Stakeholder Relations & Fundraising”. Students are assessed by 100% in-course assessment with diverse assessment activities such as learning journeys, overseas/local community service projects, quizzes and reports. The modules will also use blackboard with discussion forums to allow students to revise and communicate with their peers and lecturers via virtual discussions.
There is an overseas community service trip to one of the Asean countries during vacation break.
