Junior CD Lionhearter Appointment Ceremony 2017
Junior Civil Defence (CD) Lionhearter Appointment Ceremony is an annual event initiated by Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) to formally induct new batches of Junior CD Lionhearters into an ambassadorial programme for selected primary school students who possess leadership qualities and to strengthen their sense of responsibility as Emergency Preparedness (EP) Ambassadors. Held at Anderson Primary School with Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee as the Guest-of-Honour (GOH), this event was attended by over 400 students and teachers from various schools.
Together with SCDF, the student team incorporated EP messages into the ceremony programme activities to create awareness of appropriate actions to take when faced with emergencies.
The students’ roles in this event included working closely with and assisting SCDF in planning and executing the event. As event coordinators, students proposed ideas / activities, carried out planning, etc that helped to achieve the event objectives. These were done with an understanding towards SCDF needs and other specifics through the many discussion sessions.
The team was tasked with the planning for some of the stage programmes and activities held at the exhibition area, determining the flow of the event, recruiting volunteers, monitoring and working with the volunteers for the event as well as conducting post event feedback and evaluation with stakeholders and finally submitting findings in a report to the client.
