Major Sports Events Programme

This project gave the student team an opportunity to work on significant sports event such as The Rising Together Baton Run and Olympic Day Celebrations.

The Rising Together Baton Run was held as part of 2017 SEA Games and Asean Para Games (APG) celebrations. Officially starting in March, the baton has traversed across ten capital cities in South-East Asian countries, with Singapore as the last destination.

The Baton Run held in Singapore invited Ms Grace Fu, Singapore’s Minister for Culture, Community and Youth, to kick start the run. It aimed to ramp up interest leading up to SEA Games and APG .

Before the event the team assisted with logistical arrangements and on-site took care of bus arrangements.

Olympic Day Celebrations 2017, held at Singapore Sports Hub - OCBC Square, is an annual project by Singapore National Olympic Council to spread ideals of the Olympic movement. The event which received participation of over 1000 attendees offered an Olympic themed carnival, flag presentation ceremony for Team Singapore athletes and sports try-outs organised by ActiveSG such as basketball, floorball and tennis.

The team’s roles included finalising the route, manpower allocation and deployment, managing the team of road marshals through briefing and ensuring their welfare. The students also oversaw the setting up, dismantling and removal of the event and clearing of the site efficiently after the event.
