Mr Kevin Teng, Executive Director of Sustainability & Property Operations, Marina Bay Sands (MBS) presented a Talk on Sustainability in Hospitality and the MICE Industry to DEPM Year 2 cohort taking the module on Project Management.

Mr Teng is responsible for MBS’s green initiatives, including spearheading energy, water, waste, food, sustainable procurement and staff engagement projects. He most recently directed a team of specialists to drive resource cost-savings and implement sustainable design solutions, leading MBS to achieve a 26% reduction in its carbon footprint over 3 years and receive Green Mark Platinum certification from the Building Construction Authority (BCA), EarthCheck Silver Certification and ISO20121 certification for Sustainable Events.

After the Talk, students were able to:
1.   Understand about sustainability within the Hospitality and MICE industry,
2.   Identify Event Sustainability Challenges and
3.   Understand about SINGAPORE MICE GUIDELINES and appreciate how MBS integrates sustainability into their operations.
