Yio Chu Kang Christmas Party 2017

Yio Chu Kang Christmas Party 2017 was an annual Christmas event organised by the Youth Executive Committee (YEC), at Yio Chu Kang Community Club. This event aimed to bring joy to underprivileged children by organising games, activities, performances and gifts. The event welcomed children of all races and religions to join in this celebratory occasion.

The activities in this event included a buffet spread, game booths, guitar performance and a magic show. The Guest-of-Honour, MP for Ang Mo Kio GRC, Dr Koh Poh Koon led the Christmas-carolling and giveaway of Christmas presents which the children looked forward to. The event ended with the annual balloon drop.

Some of our roles in this project involved designing the event poster, event floor plan, planning the event flow that included games and activities. We created eight interactive and exciting games for the children. For the music performance, we invited two Singapore Polytechnic students to sing for us as part of the programme and to encourage attendees to sing in the spirit of Christmas. Altogether, we recruited 18 volunteers, two photographers and one videographer from SP who helped us ensure the event went smoothly.

The number of attendees exceeded our client’s expectations who thought that the programme was were well-executed. We are pleased to be a part of this Christmas celebration as we were able to bring joy and happiness to needy people who lack many opportunities. Seeing their smiles and happy faces was what we think made this event a success and meaningful for us.
