All 120 second year students from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) helped out at the 28th SEA Games Singapore 2015 which took place at the Singapore Sports Hub from 5 to 16 June 2015.
The students assisted as event service marshals where they conducted electronic access control checks of the cards, security bag checks at all entry points, visual checks of the cards in venue and ensuring only authorized vehicles and personnel enter the event venue. Prior to the event, the students were given a venue orientation as well as a training on the event through hands-on activities and scenario-based learning.
The students commented that it was a meaningful and inspiring experience to be involved in such a grand and significant event. Through this volunteering experience, they also learned about team work and the importance of perseverance.
