A team of five Year 2 students from the Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management (DEPM) collaborated with the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) to organise this year’s Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign (ADAC) and DanceWorks! 2014.
Held annually, these 2 events serves to educate the public and youth about the danger of drug abuse and the importance of saying no to drugs. Themed ‘Life Does Not Rewind, Say No to Drugs’, the emphasis for this year’s campaign is to educate the youth on the dire consequences of drug abuse.
The students’ involvement for the event includes conceptualisation and execution of the event, as well as planning the pre-event publicity to promote and create awareness. The students also went to several secondary schools for publicity.
The event took place at Bugis+ from 19 to 21 June 2014, where the Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign exhibition at Level 2 Atrium was held concurrently with the DanceWorks! Competition on Level 7. Together with the Central Narcotic Bureau, the National Council Against Drug Abuse and event participants, they conducted Cupid Shuffle, a mass dance during the event, breaking Singapore’s Book of Records as the largest mass dance event.
After the event, the DEPM students also rallied students from various secondary schools to distribute stylus wristbands to commemorate the ‘International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking’. The wristbands were distributed in various locations around Singapore to remind the public to say “NO” to drugs.
