DCEB & DEWT Students Winners in Green Wave Environmental Care Competition 2015

Green Wave Environmental Competition is an annual national event organised by Sembcorp Marine. It encourages students to address a broad spectrum of environmental issues through their projects. In the 13th edition, the competition expanded to attract 234 projects from about 850 students from primary to tertiary institutions, including international tertiary institution from ASEAN countries.
A total of 59 awards were given out at the awards presentation ceremony on 26 Feb 2016 of which 13 awards were given to students from the polytechnics and universities. The following SP teams from ABE secured 5 of the 13 awards:
1. DEWT students (Li Siyu, Eu Junnan, Jeannie Aw and Lu Xiwen) project: “Removal of Hydrocarbon Using Dry Leaves in Water Environment “ was awarded the 3RD Prize Award of S$4000. Eu Jun Nan also won the Good Presenter Award of S$200. Project Supervisor: Dr Handojo Djati Utomo
2. DCEB students (Charto in Sutra, Tang Kak Yong, Joel Tor and Loui Raphael) project: “Bituminous Paving Mixtures Incorporating with recycle materials“ was awarded the Merit Award of S$1000. The team also won the Collaborative Team Award of S$500. Project Supervisor: Dr Handojo Djati Utomo; Co- Supervisor: Mr Moe Aung Lwin
3. DCEB students (Han Yin, Xu Xinwei, Hairil Hakim and Ahmad Farid) project: “The use of Natural Rubber Latex in Bituminous Paving Mixtures “ was awarded the Commendation Award of S$500. Project Supervisor: Dr Handojo Djati Utomo; Co- Supervisor: Mr Moe Aung Lwin
Speaking at the award presentation ceremony, Guest of Honour and Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli said he was encouraged by the rising "green consciousness" among youth, and emphasised that greater commitment to environmental sustainability from the young can lead the way forward in tackling environmental issues.
