Tampines Greenwood Get-Together is a one-day event planned by the second year students of the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) on 24 October 2015 to welcome residents residing in Housing Development Board (HDB) housing estate shortly after they have moved-in.
Held at Tampines Greenwood, this event was initiated by the HDB to serve as a platform for residents to interact, forge and strengthen neighbourly ties. It also provides opportunities for them to get to know their Grassroots Advisors, Grassroots Leaders and HDB staff who are serving them. Mr Heng Swee Keat, the adviser to Tampines Grassroots Organisations (GROs) was invited to be the Guest-of-Honour for the event.
The event comprises of a welcome party which included stage performances, carnival games, an exhibition by HDB, the RC and other agencies, and a mini reception. The student’s role include event conceptualization, event marketing, recruitment and management of volunteers, developing and designing collaterals as well as executing the event.
The theme “Eco-Friendly” was decided after a pre-survey was conducted with the nearby residents. To encourage people to “go green”, recycled materials were used for the activities. These activities allowed residents to learn about their surroundings as well as increase their awareness about the environment at the same time.
