On 12 May 2016, the entire second year cohort from the Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management (DEPM) assisted in the ISMRM Closing Dinner held at Makansutra @ Gluttons by the Bay. The dinner was the last segment of the International
Society for Magnetic in Medicine (ISMRM)’s 24th Annual Meeting & Exhibition at Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.
Students gained real-life work experience in ushering, crowd management, venue set up and food & beverages service and arrangements at the dinner which was attended by 3,000 international delegates. To ensure that the ‘on-the-job’
experience marries well with the lessons taught in the classrooms, several module lectures worked with East West Planners Pte Ltd who was the appointed organiser for the dinner and customised their tutorial sessions accordingly.
In this industry collaboration, students also learnt much from pre-event briefing, providing solutions to meet requirements of a large scale event, on-site training, rehearsal, event day operation and post event evaluation.
