02 May 2014

Sembawang Shipyard’s Green Wave Environmental Care Competition is one of the major green competitions in Singapore. It aims to involve students to contribute ideas towards the conservation and improvement of Singapore’s sustainable development.

Under the Tertiary Level, a group of students from the Diploma in Environmental Management and Water Technology won a Commendation Award at the Award Presentation Ceremony on 13 Feb 2014. The winners received the prize from Mr Lawrence Wong, Acting Minister for Culture Community and Youth and Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Communications and Information.

The winning project by students Sandy Loh Soak Yin, Koh Yong Xiang, Bee Zhi Chye and Ananthan s/o Sivakumar was a prototype of a cheap water treatment kit called Vietter. The students hope to use it to eleviate the poor condition of drinking water for the developing countries.
