Singapore Civil Defense Force Lifesavers Connect 2014

07 Nov 2014

A group of 5 second year students from the Diploma in Integrated Events and Project Management (DEPM) were involved in the SCDF Lifesavers Connect 2014. This event is part of their Integrated Project module, where they have to apply the skills they have learned in school into real-world projects.

The Lifesavers Connect is an annual event organised by Singapore Civil Defense Force to equip and educate members of the public on essential emergency preparedness knowledge and skills. Held at the Singapore Expo from 10 to 13 September 2014, the event showcased SCDF’s capabilities and equipment, and was filled with practical and engaging games, including real-life situations with demonstration on the use of fire extinguisher on real fire and CPR. Attendees got to experience and view all the top-notch facilities displayed and learned more about the daily routine and work of our SCDF personnel. They also went home with attractive prizes and souvenirs, and an exclusive limited edition ambulance toy.

Some other highlights of the event include the Singapore-Global Firefighters and Paramedics Challenge, the unravelling of the fourth generation Red Rhino which attracted visitors from overseas, as well as a challenge to set a Singapore Records of the most number of head bandages done.

The students worked closely with the SCDF clients and came up with a proposal and itinerary for the event. Through this event, the students managed to apply skills learned in various modules such as Principles of Marketing, Events Experience, Project Management, Principles of Management, and many more.
