DCEB Students Win Awards at Greenwave Competition 2017

Greenwave competition is an annual national competition which is organised by Sembcorp Marine. The competition encourages students to address a broad spectrum of environmental issues through their projects. In the 15th edition, over 1,000 local and regional students took part in the year-long competition in 2017, with 75 projects out of 307 entries.

Two student teams from the DCEB course, School of ABE, secured 2 awards at the 15th Anniversary Award Presentation Ceremony held at Marina Mandarin Singapore:

  1. Chin Ze Zhao Eugene, Koh Wee Chen and Ayu Surya Binte Zainuddin for “Bio-Beads for Organic Removal in Water Medium” were awarded a Merit Award of S$1,000. Eugene Chin was also awarded the Good Presenter Award of S$200. Project Supervisor: Dr Handojo Djati Utomo
  2. Sherwin Chua, Dhiyaul Asyraf Bin Rahmat, Eunice Lim, Loh Wen Yu for “Environmental Cleaner – UV Assisted ZnO Impregnated Ceramic Membrane for Organic Wastewater Treatment” were awarded an Encouragement Award of $200. Project Supervisor: Dr Liu Qishan.
Guest of Honour, Environment and Water Resources Minister Masagos Zulkifli  mentioned that “the impressive level of student participation at the Green Wave competition in the last 15 years shows that our younger generation cares for our environment and is also willing to put their time and efforts into turning their innovative ideas into tangible projects and proofs of concept”
