The Singapore Junior Water Prize (SJWP) Competition is a national competition organized by the Lien Foundation and Ngee Ann Polytechnic, and supported by the PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency. For 2018 the organiser received final submission from 35 teams for the Main Category, student from Junior Colleges and Polytechnics with maximum age of 19 years old, and 10 teams for the Under-15 Category. Panels of judges were academics from local universities and professionals from PUB and Sembcorp Industry Pte Ltd.

For 2018, the DCEB team of Ng Poh Yee, Daryl Lim Sze Suan, William and Muhammad bin Mohamed Yusoof Basheer won the second prize of $2,500 and a trophy. Their project Green Beads from Dry Leaves for Organic Dyes Removal in Water Medium was supervised by Dr Handojo Djati Utomo (ABE).

Participating in the SJWP Competition was a very challenging and long process. The project students needed supervision from preparation, literature review, reporting, project execution until the final presentation. In addition to the advancement in science and engineering knowledge at diploma level, the students were able to hone their presentation skills under the guidance of Ms Puvanambigai Ponnampalam (CASS).

Due to the value of r & D in this competition, good team work, inspiration, resilience and time management between supervisor and students and also amongst the team members are the key factor of success. Hard work during their final year project is very important for better refinement during in-house internship at SP.
