Applied Chemistry Student Chapter organised e-community service at St. Luke’s Elder Care

08 Apr 2022

The Diploma in Applied Chemistry (DAPC) Student Chapter organised an e-Community Service with St. Luke’s Elder Care on 20 Dec 2021 despite the challenges during the pandemic in organising social activities. However the constraints did not douse their strong desire to do their part for the society and had creatively came up with the idea of an e-community event. They managed to partner with St Luke’s Elderly Care that provides services such as Maintenance Day Care, Day Rehabilitation, Respite Services, Home Nursing for the elderly in Singapore. After much deep thoughts, the fifteen student volunteers had decided to entertain the elderly with charades and kKaraoke activities that fit the settings. The bonding times between the two generations had brought much joy to the elderly, especially in the spirit of the Christmas season. In the process of executing this meaningful event, the students not only inculcate empathy but also appreciate the importance of building a caring community.
