Emerson and Singapore Polytechnic partner to accelerate decarbonization for energy intensive industries

26 Jul 2022

Singapore Polytechnic is collaborating with Emerson to upskill students and employees from more than 30 companies in the energy, chemicals, and pharmaceutical sectors with an environmental sustainability and energy efficiency curriculum aimed at building workforce capability and using advanced digitalization technology to reduce emissions and energy consumption.

The energy and chemical industries contribute about 20% of Singapore’s total manufacturing output and employs 27,000 people locally, while emitting 45% of Singapore’s total net carbon emissions. As the world shifts towards a more sustainable economy, energy efficiency is a key strategy to help accelerate decarbonization.

As part of Emerson’s initiative to proactively promote smart sustainability solutions, the company is partnering with Singapore Polytechnic to help top carbon emitters achieve their decarbonization goals with energy efficient technologies such as wireless sensors and advanced process analytics software. Part of this partnership includes co-developing and co-conducting learning visits and training programs in areas of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, process optimization and process safety, as well as co-developing site capstone decarbonization projects to facilitate learning and adoption, and co-conducting industry outreach events.
