Researchers in Singapore discover protein in human cell aids HFMD in infecting the brain

The Straits Times, 12 Feb 2018 - Article highlighted that a research team from the National University of Singapore's Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine has uncovered how enterovirus 71 attacks and infects the central nervous system. The virus is the main cause for many hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) cases here and the only one that can infect the brain. The team includes PHD student and research assistant Isaac Too Horng Khit, who is also an SP Diploma in Biotechnology graduate.
