SP Optometry @ Hindu Endowments Board-MediaCorp Health Festival 2024

At the Hindu Endowments Board (HEB)-MediaCorp Health Festival 2024 held on 4 Aug 2024, 15 students and a staff from the Diploma in Optometry (DOPT) course collaborated with prominent health providers including SNEC, AIC, SATA, and HPB. Together, they offered a wide array of essential healthcare services, including vision screenings.

The event showcased a holistic approach to healthcare, with approximately 140 participants receiving thorough vision assessments from the DOPT students and accessing comprehensive health checks. This practical experience is crucial for the students, as it allows them to apply theoretical knowledge in a real-world setting. It also helps them develop interpersonal skills by interacting directly with participants, explaining procedures, and offering guidance on eye care. For the community, these screenings provide an invaluable service, enabling many individuals who might not otherwise have access to eye care to receive important evaluations and referrals for further treatment if necessary.

The collaboration with other healthcare providers exemplified a unified effort towards community well-being, empowering attendees with knowledge and resources to maintain optimal health across various aspects of their lives.
