The 9th DT|UX Summit aims to help both private and public players consider issues and strategies such as Design Thinking that can be used to enhance User Experience across the multiple sectors and industries as they continue to be disrupted by game changers on many fronts.

The programme consists of a plenary session in the morning with speakers coming from ASEAN Secretariat, Singapore’s GovTech, multi-discipline experience design studio Eight Inc., design agency Foolproof, international trend spotter Trendwatching.com and future of work analyst from Deloitte. There will also be break-out sessions to learn from subject matter experts on how best to take advantage of trends, big data analytics, technological advances in AR/VR, new retail methodologies, and how to innovate HR practices.

Admission to the morning plenary session will be complimentary and will include a tea-break and buffet lunch.  Please register before 11 September 2018.

H.E Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee is the Deputy Secretary General (DSG) of ASEAN for Socio-Cultural Community and is working on the implementation of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Blueprint, as well as managing relations with ASEAN Dialogue Partners and the International community. As a regional observer of user centric projects such as SP’s Learning Express program, he will be invited to share about his observations on the various governmental and non-governmental initiatives ASEAN have improved the citizen’s experiences.

Mr Tim Kobe is the Founder & CEO of Eight Inc., a globally recognized strategic and experience design firm. For almost 30 years in design and a leader in Innovation and Branded Experience, Eight Inc. has worked with companies such as Apple, Virgin Atlantic Airways, Nike, Coke, Knoll and Citibank. The firm takes on an interdisciplinary and holistic approach, working across traditional disciplines including strategy, architecture, exhibition, interior design, product, communications and branding.

Mr. Mario Van der Meulen, Principal Designer at Foolproof, formerly Creative Director at frog. Mario believes people ignore design that ignores people. He’s a creative who is able to see what others are saying, and a versatile, ambidextrous designer. Mario discovers, designs, and delivers experience design principles, giving a voice to the end-user, meaning to the solution, and value to the design thinking.

Mr Eyung Lim, Deputy Director of Government Digital Services at GovTech, believes that digital service design and implementation should be guided by data through user engagement and testing. This allows us to make better decisions based on real user experiences, without the need to guess what works best for the citizen. He will be sharing his perspective on how GovTech continues to focus on user centricity to enhance the digital service experience.

Ms Nathania Christy is the Head of TrendWatching Insights Network, Trend Strategist Asia-Pacific. As a published author and experienced speaker, she is regularly invited to deliver presentations in institutions. Based in Singapore, she oversees partnerships with industry and market experts to gather on-the-ground innovations and analyse trend insights in the Asia Pacific region.

Mr Adrian Ole is the Director Human Capital, Deloitte, will be speaking on “The Future of Work in the Age of Disruption”. Driven by accelerating connectivity, new talent models, and cognitive tools, work is changing. As robotics, AI, the gig economy and crowds grow, jobs are being reinvented, creating the “augmented workforce, Adrian believes that we must reconsider how jobs are designed and work to adapt and learn for future growth.

A veteran design professional with more than 25 years’ experience, Alexander owned and led award-winning multi-disciplinary design consultancies, working with international clients in the transportation, military, healthcare, security, hospitality, wellness, food and beverage and retail industries. The projects range from strategy and conceptualization for value creation, all the way through to production optimisation and project management.

SESSION 1:
TURNING TREND INSIGHT INTO ACTION

(Capacity: 35)

This is an interactive workshop that allows attendees to move from trend insights to launch-able innovations with bespoke Trend-Driven Innovation session. Nathania will be working with participants on how to come up with actual trend-driven ideas with our Consumer Trend Canvas (CTC), making use of the Trend-Driven Innovation Toolkit. Based on your needs, Nathania will lead your team through the CTC and help you unpack trends for your business and ideate new innovations.

SESSION 2:
DESIGN NOW TO NEXT: DISRUPTORS OR ENABLERS

(Capacity: FULL)

It’s now an open secret that design-driven innovation is transforming established companies while giving smaller companies new ways to disrupt industries, engage new and underrepresented audiences, and improve lives. But is design alone enough and how should it evolve to address the complex, interconnected challenges we face today? Our session will bring together attendees from the morning keynote, to engage in conversations around “Design Now To Next”. What role does the designer have in the automated world? Is user-centred design the solution? What is the balance between disrupting and enabling? How can technology and human capacity be combined in a much more meaningful way?

SESSION 3:
DESIGNING AR AND VR EXPERIENCES FOR CLIENT

(Capacity: 25)

In this workshop, Infinity Core will showcase their design processes in developing a retail experience using Interactive, Augmented and Virtual Reality technologies for a potential client. Workshop participants will be able to get hands on to try out the various technologies: Virtual Reality Experience; Augmented Reality App; and other Interactive technologies.

SESSION 4:
DESIGNING HUMAN EXPERIENCE

(Capacity: FULL)

Richa Menke is a Principal at Eight Inc. Singapore. Her focus at Eight Inc. is on how technology and business strategy inform the design of human experiences. She has a diverse background in engineering, product management and business development. Richa also brings a global perspective having lived in India, Canada, Singapore, USA and Germany. Since joining Eight Inc. in 2012, Richa has worked with clients such as Shimano, Singtel, P&G, League, Rose Rock, GLH and Crayon Data.

SESSION 5:

VISUAL ANALYTICS FOR POWER BI

The objective of this workshop is to introduce data visualization using Power BI. At the end of this workshop, the participants will be able to:
• Import and create data model for analysis.
• Create calculated measures and columns using DAX functions.
• Develop interactive dashboards.

SESSION 6:
INTRODUCTION TO DESIGN THINKING FOR WORKPLACE LEARNING

(Capacity: 60)

Given the rising complexity of labour environmental forces and the challenging economic climate, it is imperative for organisations to provide apt learning and development for the employees. Workplace learning, or learning at work, through work and for work is critical to raising staff engagement, talent retention and business performance. Design thinking which focuses on an empathic understanding of end users and a compelling user experience has significant potential for fostering a learning ecosystem that is more sustainable and effective to the current labour situation. This is a taster workshop how Design Thinking can help to identify opportunities for designing effective workplace learning and development solutions that can enhance individual and organisation performance.
