30 Jul 2019

SP Engineering Academy (EA) students participated in the TFI SUTD STEP Aviation Forum from 06-10 May 2019, a STudent Exchange Programme (STEP) funded by TFI (Temasek Foundation International). Our EA students were grouped with students from the ASEAN region, India, and China to form multi-national teams. During the forum, all the students learnt design thinking, aviation engineering principles, principles of UAVs (e.g. drones) and visited aviation-related companies, like ST Aerospace. Each team was tasked to design and build a quadcopter, and pilot it to overcome an obstacle course.

DCPE EA student, Ashwin Dinesh, together with team members from various varsity and background, namely, Ragul Balaji from SUTD, Nina from Brunei (information system and security) and Awi from Indonesia (agriculture), clinched the first prize with the quadcopter that they built and piloted successfully through the obstacle course.

Another EA student, Tristan Voon from the DME course, clinched the third prize with his team. EEE staff, Mr Teo Shin Jen, supervised the SP EA students at the Forum.
