It is our pleasure to bring you the third issue of our bi-annual EEE Alumni e-newsletter. I am Dr Lim Joo Ghee, Acting Director of the School of EEE from 1 April 2022. Mr Toh Ser Khoon, our former director has been appointed to head Singapore Polytechnic’s
Industry and Partnerships (INP) Department. Ser Khoon has played a pivotal role in achieving numerous good outcomes across all fronts in the school. On behalf of the school, I would like to express my appreciation to Ser Khoon for his leadership
and wish him all the best in his new role at INP.
In this issue, we have the honour to interview one of EEE’s distinguished alumni – Mr Lee Kok Kin, CEO of SembWaste Pte Ltd. It was a truly insightful session as he shared nuggets of wisdom from his key life milestones. We were impressed,
not least, by his deep passion for continual learning amid his work and family commitments. Please read on to know more about the life journey that led him to his present position.
EEE espouses lifelong learning, and we would like to highlight two short courses in our Continuing Education and Training (CET) curriculum to elevate your employability and marketability. They are in the areas of computer and power engineering; domains
where skilled manpower is much in demand.
As EEE alumni, you may be glad to learn that EEE students continue to exhibit self-directed learning by joining and excelling in competitions. Recently, EEE team MNKS x CO2 emerged as champion and clinched the People’s Choice Awards in Samsung
Solve for Tomorrow Competition. We also have two EEE teams that clinched first place in Singapore Amazing Flying Machine Competition 2022.
EEE also offers structured courses like Work-Study Programmes (WSP), Career Conversion Programmes (CCP), Specialist Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses. These programmes may be of interest to you our Alumni, either for yourself or your company. For
example, EEE manages the CCP for Industry 4.0 Professionals and Associates and CCP for Infocomm Professionals (5G). Through these two CCPs, relevant training will be provided, and the company can enjoy funding schemes like Salary Support Scheme,
Course Fees Funding Scheme and SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit. This will enable your company to keep abreast with industry digital transformation that many industries are heading towards. Let us know your company’s needs and we can help
to bring suitable solutions to you.
Following the easing of social management measures, we are looking at resuming our Alumni events, such as EEE Alumni Bonding Night and Alumni Homecoming Night. This year also marks the 65th anniversary of EEE and we have planned a number of activities
to commemorate this momentous occasion. Do look out for more details on our Telegram and we look forward to your participation at these events.
EEE always strives to keep up with the industry trends and update our courses or introduce
new ones accordingly, to help you, our alumni, stay relevant.
Wishing you a pleasant read,
Lim Joo Ghee (Dr)
