DCPE students won Special Prize at Programming Contest in Japan

Good news!! Our student team won Special Prize at the 29th PROCON, in conjunction with the 10th International Programming Contest. The grand prize, and first prize went to Kanagawa Kosen. There were no runner-up prizes.

The actual competition was held on 27 & 28 Oct 2018. There were a total of 24 teams in the original category, 20 Japanese teams from KOSEN, and 4 international teams from Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan and Thailand respectively.

Our students have devised a computing solution titled "TSUNA.I" that leverages on Machine Vision (MV), Artificial Intelligent, IoT (Internet of Things), Cloud Computing, and Blockchain with the aim to preserve tuna biomass stock, and promote sustainable fishing of tuna through ethical consumption to quell the insatiable demand for tuna. The solution comprises of three building blocks: Species Identification, Quality Detection, and Authentic Sourcing.

The students are:

  1. LIM EN HUI (DCPE Year 2) (SP Engineering Scholar, CSIT Diploma Scholar, 1st AWS certified EEE student
  2. BRYAN TEE PAK HONG (DCPE year 2, EA) (DCPE top student in AY17/18)
