DEB Student made 2021 Philip Yeo Initiative Associate (youngest from SP)

DEB Year 2 student Chong Ing Kai was conferred as a 2021 Philip Yeo Initiative (PYI) associate on 1 Nov 2021 for his start-up Stick’Em. Ing Kai had developed his start-up since year one with support of his team members from School of Computing (SP), School of Design (SP) and Eunoia Junior College. Stick’Em is an EdTech start-up that aims to make STEM education accessible and affordable to children of all ages within Southeast Asia as a start. This is done by using 3D printed connectors and chopsticks to build structures and functional robots, at a fraction (1/10th) of the price of traditional STEM educational kits. This project recently also won the River Hongbao Hackathon Entrepreneurship Competition held on 7 January 2021, as well as the Most Innovative Award.

Ing Kai is, thus far, the youngest recipient from SP (Singapore Polytechnic) for the PYI that strives to support and groom enterprising individuals passionate about making a positive societal impact with their projects or ideas. He will receive funding of up to $20,000, mentorship and access to networking opportunities to help him advance his cause.
