The Power & Autonomous Electric Vehicle Hub aspires to be a Centre of Excellence in learning and development of latest technologies in autonomous electric vehicle.

About the Tech hub 

This Hub explores on the many technologies to develop an autonomous electric vehicle.  Different enabling technologies such as sensors, navigation, control and drive systems, intelligent communication, machine learning and artificial intelligence, vision, cloud, application programming and many others would be explored and this would provide a platform to develop staff & student capability and provide training for the future engineers that will be needed in this autonomous electric vehicle market. 

The hub seeks collaboration with industry and academic/research institutes in joint R&D and industry projects involving staff/students to improve competencies in the area of autonomous electric vehicle.  In addition, the hub also provide customised courses to retrain and upgrade manpower for electrical power industry.

Capabilities and Technical Services

The hub specialise in R&D and applied projects in the following technology areas:

  • Consultancy and training provider for electrical power industry.
  • Project development in autonomous electric vehicle
  • Design and fabrication of an electric car chassis and body using a 3D design software, developing telematics and testing the performance of the car.

Backed by the robust experiences of our academic and research staff, the hub also has ongoing project collaborations with other government agencies, businesses and industry partners.

Project Showcase

The Power & Autonomous Electric Vehicle Hub promotes a wide array of applied R&D projects undertaken by students and staff. Some of the achievements and past projects are shown below:

  • LED Lightings

A few new types of high performance power electronic drivers for high power LEDs have been successfully developed and commissioned in industrial environment for area lightings applications. The most notable one being the lighting up of the water features of Terminal 3 of Changi Airport.

  • Autonomous Electric Vehicle

To demonstrate the capability of autonomous electric vehicle, a fleet of two driverless vehicles would be developed to provide local mobility in the SP campus. Different enabling technologies such as sensors, navigation, control and drive systems, intelligent communication, machine learning and artificial intelligence, vision, cloud, application programming and many others would be explored.
