Quantum Levitation by MAE students

19 Nov 2017

A team of MAE students has just set a new record, as endorsed by Singapore Book of Records. The hoverboard they built for FYP (titled MAG : Mechanical Anti Gravity) is certified as Singapore’s strongest — capable of levitating 71 kg (just like in the movie Back To The Future 2).

Using quantum levitation technology, superconductors & liquid nitrogen work with a magnetic track to achieve this capability. Faced with virtually no reference for this advanced technology in Singapore, the team has to research on the work of Universities from Israel & Europe to design the MAG.

The Straits Times has a special report on this project: http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/a-step-closer-to-futuristic-transport , along with an in-depth video interview: https://youtu.be/3i7kXIjvepg

The team adores the technical support by MAE friends from:
