Welcome to the PFP family!
We are thrilled to welcome you to the beginning of an exciting journey at Singapore Polytechnic. Our Freshman Orientation Programme (FOP) is designed to help you transition smoothly into the Poly Foundation Programme (PFP) and make the most out of your time here. Below is an overview of what you can expect and some important steps to take before attending orientation:
FOP Overview
PFP FOP is a compulsory programme for all PFP students. Through this programme, you will get to
- Familiarise yourself with the campus environment and facilities.
- Meet your fellow classmates and personal tutor (PT)
- Receive important information about academic requirements, administrative matters, student services, and co-curricular (CCA) opportunities.
- Participate in fun activities and team-building exercises to kickstart your journey at SP.
Note that PFP students do not need to attend FO Camps or FOP organized by the other diplomas as those are meant for Year 1 diploma students.
As you enter SP from Dover MRT Gateway, you will be greeted by our friendly PFP Student Leaders (with placards) who will direct you to our registration area and to LT1A for the Main FOP Programme. They will be there from 9.00 am – 10.00 am. Please arrive early as it takes about 15 mins to walk from Dover MRT gateway to your FOP venue.
What to Wear: Tee-shirt and long pants/jeans with covered shoes (compulsory for laboratory tours)
Things to bring:
- Your student matriculation card (you will need this for entry to SP)
- Canned/dried food donation items for SP Cares (bring it on Monday 8th April)
- Change of clothes (sports attire for afternoon of Monday 8th April)
- Water bottle
- A Sweater, if necessary (for air-conditioned places)

Before FOP
To prepare you for your PFP FOP @SP, please refer to the following information:
1. Please make sure you have read carefully and completed the tasks (1 to 7), as stated on
https://www.sp.edu.sg/ccas/our-events/freshman-orientation-programme
- [Task 1]
Purchase laptop based on laptop recommendation list from your future
diploma schools. The recommended laptop model from your future diploma is also compatible with PFP.
- [Task 4] Complete the modules in BrightSpace by their respective due dates. PFP students should complete the first 3 modules listed, excluding the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People module.
- [Task 7] Participate in the SP Cares Donation Drive and receive CCA points! Please refer to task 7 for the list of food items you can donate and bring them on 8th April 2024 (Mon).
2. To find your way around SP, do check out the online SP map. You can also download the SP app on your mobile devices and use the Campus Map function.
3. [For Science and Technology (S&T) track students – from class JP01/FT/1A/01 to JP01/FT/1A/14] Refer to the table below and prepare for the lab coat sizes to be ordered on 9th April 2024.
4. Connect on social media: Join the PFP Instagram account (@sppfp) and stay updated on important announcements leading up to orientation.
