Obstacles course training dates back to the Roman Empire and is still being used as an integral part of military training in different parts of the world we live in. This course provides safe, practical and scientific approaches to training and clearing traverse-type and hang-type obstacles in this physically and mentally demanding sport.

Course Objective

This course will introduce participants to traverse-type and hang-type obstacles and they will be trained on how to clear them.

Course Outline

a. Identify suitable techniques to overcome traverse and hang type obstacles
b. identify core muscles groups needed to overcome traverse and hang type obstacles
c. develop their personal training regime with bodyweight and/or strength training tools to improve their core stability and strength needed to clear these obstacles

Participants are coached on practical tips of clearing different obstacles. Programme is jointly developed between Obstacle Course Racing Singapore & Singapore Polytechnic.

Topics to be covered:

1. Traverse techniques
2. Hang-type obstacle techniques

Minimum Requirements

Open to all levels of fitness. PAR-Q will be administered before the course. For those who are not able to overcome obstacles, tips, and strengthening exercises will be advised. Coaches will assess and recommend specific exercises as needed. A list of qualified coaches will also be provided to participants.

Certification / Accreditation

• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Performance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment and meet at least 75% attendance rate
