Career Conversion Programme for Infocomm Professionals (5G)

Course Introduction:

The Career Conversion Programme for Infocomm Professionals (5G) is aimed at equipping professionals, managers, executives and technicians (“PMETs”) to take on Infocomm Technology and 5G-related job roles. The target beneficiaries are Singapore citizens (“SC”) or Singapore permanent residents(“PR”) and consist of:-

(a) workers employed who are at risk of redundancy or impacted by job redesign (technology and/or business transformation) and seeking to acquire new skills; and 
(b) mid-career workers seeking to acquire new skills in, or switch careers to take on Infocomm Technology-related job roles.


Course Duration and Training Mode: 

Course Duration: 

  • New Hires and Redeployment – 6 months
  • Job-Redesign (JR) Reskilling – 3 months

New Hires and Redeployment

6 months of structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Facilitated Learning conducted by SP and with a leading Infocomm Technology and 5G-related company.

Job-Redesign (JR) Reskilling

3 months of structured On-the-Job Training (OJT) and Facilitated Learning conducted by SP and with a leading Infocomm Technology and 5G-related company.

Venue: 

  • Facilitated Learning (Face-to-Face (F2F) or Online Synchronous) - Singapore Polytechnic
  • On-the-Job Training (OJT) - participating company

Course Outline: 

Trainees will go through one of the training plans consisting of Technical Skills and Competencies (TSCs) that align to the job roles under the Skills Framework (SFW) for ICT by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG). To accomplish each TSC, participant must complete the specified On-the-Job Training specifications and/or Classroom/Blended Training which can be done in-house or󠆼 conducted by an External Provider. A fleet of suitable modules approved by SSG are provided in the attached file below. Note that this list is not exhaustive as trainees can also take other relevant courses provided by SP and other training providers, subjected to approval by CCP Programme Manager.

  • Classroom or blended trainings mapped to the TSCs in suitable areas identified by company and approved by CCP Programme Manager.

On-the-Job Training (OJT)

  • Up to 480 hours (for Job Redesign Reskilling) and up to 960 hours (for New Hire and Job Redeployment)

Suitable For: 

For Individuals:

  • Singapore citizens or Singapore permanent residents;

(a) New Hires

  • Minimum 21 years old
  • Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior at the point of application
  • Must not be in the same job role prior to joining the PCP
  • Have no bond obligation with any organisation
  • Meet employer or course-specific selection criteria, where applicable
  • Newly hired within the last 3 months, and nominated by an eligible company prior to enrolment into the programme

(b) Redeployment

  • Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior at the point of application;
  • Must not be in a similar job role within the same company prior to joining the PCP;
  • Existing Full-Time employee with at least 1 year contract remaining at point of enrolment
  • Has to take on new or expanded role in the company
  • Previous role cannot be replaced.

(c) Job Redesign (JR) Reskilling

  • Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior at the point of application;
  • Will remain in same job role but with and expanded job scope/changes in job title etc
  • Existing Full-Time employee with at least 1 year contract remaining at point of enrolment
  • Has to take on expanded role in the company.

For Participating Companies:

  • Be registered or incorporated in Singapore;
  • Ensure that new hires cannot be:
  • A shareholder of the PCP company, or its related companies;
  • Related to the owner(s) of the PCP company; and
  • Immediate ex-staff of PCP company or its related companies;
  • Must offer the new hire a PMET/RnF job which is different from his previous employment and issue a valid permanent employment contract;
  • Full-time contract employment must be at least 12 months;
  • Conversions can be inter-sectoral or intra-sectoral¹;
  • Must be able to provide structured OJT training for the candidate.
  • To work with SP to support administration and marketing related to the programme

¹Inter-sectoral refers to a new job in a different sector, intra-sectoral refers to a different job in the same sectorCommit to provide structured OJT for trainee with mentoring support


Minimum Entry Requirements: 

Possess at least a NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma/Degree from any discipline.

The Salary Support will commensurate with their academic qualifications and working experience. Companies are not eligible to submit Absentee Payroll claims on behalf of trainees who are in the programme.
