Course Introduction
The Professional Conversion Programme (PCP) and Rank-and-File (RnF) Place-and-Train for the Medical Technology Industry is a 9-months and 3-months programmes respectively, which operates on a Place-and-Train mode.
Participating companies employ the candidates before they undergo up to 1 month of facilitated classroom training (two modules) with Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and up to 8 or 2 months of structured on-the-job training (OJT).
Customised programmes are designed for different job roles, which are tailored to individual’s development needs so as to equip them with the relevant skills and competencies for a successful career conversion in the MedTech Industry.
Course Details
Duration: Up to 9 or 3 months, comprising up to 1 month of facilitated classroom training and up to 8 or 2 months of structure on-job-training

Course Objectives
This programme aims at enabling mid-career/displaced PMETs and RnFs to switch and/or embark on new careers by facilitating placements into hiring companies and putting them through industry-recognized training programmes to acquire necessary skills for Medical Technology Engineer / Assistant Engineer / Medical Operator jobs in the Medical Technology industry.
Course Outline
Participating companies would hire the selected candidates as full-time employees. The participants will undergo a 2 facilitated training* at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) and about 8 or 2 months of company in-house structured on-the-job training (OJT)
* There are no fixed training schedules as class commencement is based on aggregated sign-ups by companies. Please contact SP for more information.
The programme comprised of:
(A) Faciliated classroom training in SP; and
(B) Structured OJT components in the company

12. Manage Regulatory Requirements for Medical Devices

Suitable for
Individuals
The Programme is open to all company-sponsored applicants who meet the following General Eligibility Criteria:
- Singapore Citizen (SC) or Permanent Resident (PR);
- Graduated or completed National Service, whichever is later, at least two years prior at the point of application;
- New hires should be hired for not more than three months;
- New hires must not be in the same job role prior to joining the PCP;
- New hires must not be a shareholder of the PCP company, or its related companies;
- New hires must not be related to the owner(s) of the PCP company;
- New hires must not be immediate ex-staff of PCP company or its related companies.
- Have no bond obligation with any organisation.
Employers
- Be registered or incorporated in Singapore;
- Ensure that new hires cannot be:
- A shareholder of the PCP company, or its related companies;
- Related to the owner(s) of the PCP company; and
- Immediate ex-staff of PCP company or its related companies;
- Be committed to work with WSG and its appointed Programme Manager on the necessary administrative matters related to the PCP;
- Commit to the PCP training arrangements for the trainees.

Funding Incentives
Participating companies will be supported with course fee and salary support as follows:
1. Course Fee funding - 70% of the course fee for trainee upon certified competent.
2. Salary Support for PCP for Medical Technology Engineer and Assistant Engineer:
- Standard Rate - Funded at 70% for each trainee’s salary, capped at $4,000 per month
- Enhanced Rate - Funded at 90% for each eligible trainee’s salary, capped at $6,000 per month, for mature or long-term unemployed Singaporean trainees.
3. Salary Support for PCP for Medical Operator:
- Standard Rate - Funded at 70% for each trainee’s salary, capped at $2,000 per month
- Enhanced Rate - Funded at 90% for each eligible trainee’s salary, capped at $3,000 per month, for long-term unemployed Singaporean trainees.
The Salary Support will commensurate with their academic qualifications and working experience.
Companies are not eligible to submit Absentee Payroll claims on behalf of trainees who are in the programme.
