Introduction
The School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering is pleased to introduce our Part-time Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace) (DEAS) in collaboration with the Singapore University of Social Science (SUSS). In this collaboration, graduates of the programme will be granted a pathway to SUSS, BEng Aerospace Systems (BEHAS) with advanced standing.
Course Objectives
This course aims to provision the Skills Future initiative by supporting pragmatic education and providing continual academic and career progression pathways for CET participants. It will also provide participants with the knowledge and skills essential to take on the job responsibilities in the Aerospace industry.
Suitable for
This course is designed to provide graduates from the Institute of Education (ITE) and ‘O’ Levels, the opportunity to be employed in the aerospace industry and upskill themselves. Graduates will have articulation to the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) with advanced standing.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the Part-Time diploma:
a) The following GCE 'O' Level grades and with at least 1 year of relevant working experience:
English Language Grade 1 – 7
Mathematics (Elementary or Additional) Grade 1 – 6
Science Grade 1 – 6
OR
b) Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >= 3.5
OR
c) Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >= 3.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.
OR
b) Nitec in Technology in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >= 3.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.
OR
e) Higher Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=2.0
OR
f) Higher Nitec in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=1.5 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.
OR
g) Higher Nitec in Technology in an engineering or information technology discipline with GPA >=2.0 and at least 1 year of relevant working experience.
OR
h) Relevant WSQ Advanced Certificate (or higher) with at at least 1 year of relevant working experience and Level 6 for both WSQ Workplace Literacy SOA & Workplace Numeracy SOA
OR
i) Applicant with none of the qualifications listed above but at least 2 years of relevant working experience.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may be considered for admission to the course based on supporting evidence of competency readiness. Suitable applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test. The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist and admit applicants.
Course Outline
The DEAS course is a 2.5 years part-time programme. It consists of 5 modular certificates (MCs) conducted over 5 semesters.

Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of modules in each Modular Certificate in each semester, the participant will be awarded the respective Modular Certificate.
Upon successfully acquiring MC1 to MC5 in DEAS within a five-year validity period, the participant will be conferred a Diploma in Engineering (Aerospace) qualification from Singapore Polytechnic and also granted advance standing to SUSS’s BEng Aerospace Systems (BEHAS) programme.
Upon completing module “Computer-Aided Design (Aeronautical) CATIA” in Modular Certificate 2, participates can choose to take the following examination by Dassault Systemes. Certificate in CATIA Mechanical Designer Specialist/ CATIA Mechanical Surface Designer Specialist is/are awarded by Dassault Systemes upon passing the examination.
