Singapore’s move towards a digital economy and a Smart Nation will bring many new opportunities and good jobs for all Singaporeans. The Infocomm Media 2025 Master Plan has highlighted that software development is one of the key job areas that requires manpower. To ensure that every Singaporean will be ready to take advantage of such opportunities, the government has launched initiatives such as skills future to help all adults, upskill and reskill themselves in digital and technological skills.
This course, Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development (NSFSW) will provide an opportunity for all adults to upskill and reskill themselves in web development technology.
At the end of this course, students will be able to develop responsive web and native-style mobile applications with web services support from the back-end and integrate both the front-end and back-end before hosting it on the cloud.
Participants are required to bring computer Notebook when attending lessons, as you may need it to access the e-learning materials, writing reports, etc.
This course aims to train participants in the current technologies of full stack web and native-style application development. The 3 focused areas are:
a) Responsive web design and user interaction design.
b) Front-end and back-end development, including persistent storage.
c) Design, develop and deploy a full stack web and native-style mobile application.
The Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development (NSFSW) is a 1 year part-time course, tailored for IT Diploma/Degree holders who want to learn front-end, hybrid mobile and back-end development for implementing multi-platform solution.
Minimum Entry Requirements
Applicants graduated from a local public sector educational institution (PSEI) and met the following entry requirements are invited to apply for the Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development:
- Diploma or higher qualification in information technology (IT); or
- IT-related discipline; or
- other disciplines with at least 2 years of IT-related working experience
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may apply for admission to the course by producing evidence of at least 5 years relevant working experience or supporting information to ascertain their competency readiness. Eligible applicants who are shortlisted may have to go through an interview and/or entrance test.
The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist eligible applicants and admit applicants who perform well in the interview and/or entrance test.
The course consists of four modules conducted over two semesters within one academic year. This is an e-learning course that is conducted using blended learning approach, with facilitated learning pedagogy to promote skill-based training, helping students to work independently.
On-site classes will be conducted in about two evenings per week for 15 weeks each semester.

Participants must complete PDC1 before they can progress to PDC2.
- Participants who have completed Certificate in Web Application Design – PDC1 from Specialist Diploma in Web Development Technology will be granted exemption for module “Front-End Web Development” when they enroll into this course
- Participants who have completed both PDC1 and PDC2 from the Diploma (Conversion) in Web & Programming will be granted exemption for module “Front-End Web Development” when they enroll into this course.
Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of the modules in each semester, the participant will be awarded one Post-Diploma Certificates (PDC) respectively.
Upon successfully acquiring the two PDCs within 2-year validity period, the participant will be conferred a Specialist Diploma in Full Stack Web Development qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.
