Course Introduction:
As companies advance to build Cloud based infrastructures and Cloud Native solutions that enable emerging technology area such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Data Analytics, there is a need for Cloud Solution Architects with skillsets for cloud architecting and building intelligent digital solutions. Cloud Solution Architects need to optimize their use of the Cloud by understanding cloud based services and how the services fit into the Cloud solutions. They also need to understand the emerging digital technologies used in modern-day industries, to design, implement and manage new digital solutions for Industry 4.0 applications. To prepare Cloud Solution Architects with knowledge on cloud architecting and building intelligent digital solutions, the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is pleased to introduce our Specialist Diploma in Cloud Computing (Architecture). This course is a one-year, two-semester, part-time, stackable course.
This programme aims to develop learners with the competency required to build Cloud based infrastructures and Cloud Native solutions that enable emerging technology area such as Artificial Intelligence, IoT and Data Analytics to perform end to end digital transformation, from conception to delivery. Graduates from this programme will be able to:
• architect and deploy secure and robust applications on Cloud technologies;
• define a Cloud solution using architectural design principles based on customer requirements; and
• offer implementation guidance to the organization throughout the life cycle of the project.

Course Outline:
This programme is a one-year, two-semester, part-time, stackable course. This modular certificate course is presented through lectures and practical sessions. Participants will undergo a structured 12-month programme over 2-semester periods. Conceptual knowledge and principles are presented in lectures while practical and mini-projects reinforce the understanding. Learning outcomes are tested by way of written tests, quizzes, assignments, practical tests and projects. Each semester will cover one Post Diploma Certificate (PDC). The first PDC to start with is PDC1. The classes are conducted in the evening. Each module has 60 hours of teaching. Each PDC consists of two modules and the details are as follows:
PDC 1 Certificate in Fundamentals of Cloud Computing
Module 1 – Cloud Foundations
Module 2 – Linux System Administration
PDC 2 Certificate in Architecting and Solutioning on Cloud
Module 1 – Cloud Architecting

Suitable For:
This course is specially designed for individuals who have some IT background such as some knowledge in computer networking and computer systems, and wish to start a career in Cloud Computing.
Minimum Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have a relevant Polytechnic Diploma/Degree in the Computing, IT or Engineering areas.
Applicants from other disciplines but with relevant working experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Recognition of Prior Learning:
Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements may apply for admission to the course by producing evidence of at least 5 years relevant working experience or supporting information to ascertain their competency readiness. Eligible applicants who are shortlisted will have to go through an interview and/or entrance test.
The Polytechnic reserves the right to shortlist eligible applicants and admit applicants who perform well in the interview and/or entrance test.
Award / Certification / Accreditation
Upon completion of the modules in each semester, the participant will be awarded one Post-Diploma Certificates (PDC) respectively.
Upon successfully acquiring the two PDCs, the participant will be conferred a Specialist Diploma in Cloud Computing (Architecture) qualification from Singapore Polytechnic.
