Course Outline

This programme

  • Equips learners with basic knowledge and skills required in the chemical manufacturing industry to function as a process technician.
  • Is mapped to process technician job role.
  • Is designed with reference to the Energy & Chemical Skills framework.

It consists of 4 certification courses with a total of 13 bite-sized modules. Each module can be taken independently and is stackable.

A Certificate of Performance in Process Fundamentals will be awarded upon successful completion of Modules 1 to 3.

If you complete all 13 modules, you will receive an additional Certificate in Chemical Process Operation and Control.

Minimum Requirements

Participants should possess GCE ‘N’/‘O’ level or Nitec/Higher Nitec qualifications with basic knowledge of basic sciences equivalent to lower secondary level. He or she should have basic level of literacy in English and numeracy.

Participants with relevant equivalent certifications will be subjected to approval by Singapore Polytechnic on a case by case basis.

Certification / Accreditation

Certification criteria:
- For modules with written assessment, participants must obtain a minimum score of 80% to pass.
- For modules with practical assessment, participants must be fully competent to pass.

• A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who pass the assessment for each bite-sized module and meet at least 75% attendance rate.
• A Certificate of Performance in the respective certification course will be awarded to participants who pass all 4 respective bite-sized modules within the course and meet at least 75% attendance rate.
• Upon successful completion of the 13 bite-sized modules stated above, it will lead to the award of a full certificate – Certificate in Chemical Process Operation and Control.

(For participants who did not pass the assessment but meet at least 75% attendance rate, a Certificate of Attendance will be awarded.)

• Process personnel who would like to gain professional recognition for their competencies in the form of formal certification.

• Engineers and technicians from different disciplines of engineering or has no exposure in plant operation who would like to gain an overview on chemical process operation and control.

• Professionals who would like to seek a career in Energy & Chemicals sector as process technician job role.
