Course Introduction

In light of the SkillsFuture initiative, several initiatives such as the Earn and Learn Programme and Enhanced Internships were introduced to ensure that students embarking on new experiences at the workplace have sufficient support through mentoring. This initiative is useful to assist students to make the transition to the workplace effectively as well as to build better relationships between PSEIs and industry members.

Mentors are identified very carefully as they are important links if students are expected to have a meaningful learning experience. Hence, it is important to strengthen the capabilities of potential mentors at the workplace so that they can act as guides and more importantly imbue professional behaviour, knowledge and skills to new learners either through Enhanced Internships or through the Earn and Learn Programme

Course Objective

This online course allows participants to understand the underpinning mindsets and behaviours expected of a mentor at the workplace.

They will be able to enhance their mentoring knowledge and skills through understanding key mentoring roles and responsibilities and applying them at the workplace.

Potential learners will be equipped with knowledge on how to design and conduct effective mentoring conversations as well as understand how some pitfalls may derail the whole learning experience for both mentors and mentees

The course will be fully online, coupled with interactive videos using real-life case scenarios.  There is no written assignments. However, a simple quiz will be offered to check for understanding and a webinar will be offered at the end of the online run to allow learners to come together to share experiences in a community based approach
