Course Introduction

This course will facilitate the participants to co-relate the business processes and work on a single problem statement. This course will also enrich the participants to explore various technology options and decide on what is best suited for their company. This course will help them to understand how disruptive technologies can improve operations and add business value. Participants will also work on various government grants and prepare a grant application to partially defray financial impact on the digitization plan.


Course Objective

This course will facilitate participants to understand the strength and weaknesses of disruptive technologies. In this course, the participants will be introduced to an array of different technology options that are available and decide on the best fitment which would be a wise and informed choice based on their company’s business goals. Using the Digital Transformation & Innovation Methodology, participants will learn to analyse and (re-)design their strategies, business model, value streams, and system architecture to ensure greater alignment, unlock new business growth and achieve sustainable competitive advantage.


Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 

1. Describe and analyse the problem statement 
2. Perform detailed analysis on the current scenario
3. Identify and analyse the solution options  
4. Describe and analyse the current systems used if any
5. Distinguish between different types of platforms/solutions to determine how they may affect the company and how to deploy them effectively
6. Design and create basic roadmap to bridge in the gaps identified 
7. Assess the utility of the technology for the business. Reflect on the changes in company structures/processes and the nature of changes/impact expected
8. Explore the best fitment of technology  
9. Asses the risks and plan the mitigation steps
10. Asses the change management steps required 
11. Choose from various strategic options available and drill down to conclusions.
12. Evaluate the different grants and funding support to choose the appropriate ones
13. Writing of business proposal for grant application

Minimum Entry Requirements / Assumed Skills and Knowledge

ITE qualification
Have at least 2 years of work experience, preferably in Business/IT/Engineering roles

Puli S Saravanan
Puli S Saravanan is an experienced business leader with over 29 years of rich experience. He has worked for KBR, Shell and ExxonMobil – Refining & Petrochemicals business across APAC, ME and Global portfolio. He has a proven track record in Business Development, Project Management, Process Improvement, Operations Excellence and Digital Transformation. 
He has managed multimillion dollar projects in the areas of EPC and Consulting, Managed Projects and Turnarounds. As Contracts/Procurement Advisor he has saved 20% through low-cost sourcing for a $1.2bn project. During his tenure, he has been a recipient of many awards for his outstanding performance.
Colin Soh Colin Soh's forte is in running Operations and Services, both in technical and customer, and has successfully run modest operations covering a few million dollars to over a hundred million USD annually.
He has broad end-to-end (Sales-Operations-Services) career history spanning over 33 years. His past experiences include quality assurance engineering, field engineering in manufacturing, starting and running a high tech start-up division in Graphic Arts and leading a sales team. Additionally, he has managed international support teams operating across Asia Pacific and India, including China and Japan.
