Sensory Evaluation is a very important tool for product development. Food manufacturers are recognising the value of using consumer and sensory studies to measure product acceptability, differences, improvements and opportunities.

Course Objective

This course aims to provide deeper and broader knowledge and practical tools in experimental design and sensory analysis. Participants can apply the sensory evaluation skills to evaluate the acceptability of new food products after the R&D development. The skills are important to decide the feasibility to launch the new food products to the market.

Course Outline

By the end of the course, participants will be able to: 
1. Explain the importance of sensory evaluation in the food industry
2. Differentiate the roles between consumer and sensory studies using case studies
3. Differentiate various sensory test methodologies and their applications in the food industry. 
4. Evaluate various types of statistical methods used for sensory evaluation 
5. Explain the purposes, applications, principles of descriptive tests 
6. Differentiate various consumer test methodologies and their applications in the food industry.

2. Sensory testing methods (Product Oriented tests)
3. Consumer testing methods (Consumer Oriented tests)
4. Novel methods in Sensory and consumer studies

Minimum Requirements

Basic English Proficiency and Full-time Polytechnic Diploma / ITE Technical Diploma / ITE Technical Engineering Diploma / ITE Work-Learn Technical Diploma

A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

• Certificate of Performance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Performance will be awarded to participants who pass the examination and meet at least 75% attendance rate
