With changing consumption of content on mobile devices and social media, human resource experts expect demand for talent in the digital arena to increase. Similarly, global media landscapes have seen a rise in digital content platforms and distribution networks. From TV broadcasters and news agencies and to other content publishers such as SMEs and government agencies, there is a big push towards meaningful and engaging digital content, both in the form of online articles and stories.
How to be a YouTuber aims to develop, and equip both media and non-media professionals to be writers and content creators who can craft stories for the digital media platform. From storytelling, and creativity, to video production and branding of channel, this course will help launch participants into a career of digital content creation. The course is conducted in collaboration with Mediacorp's Bloomr.sg, which provides network support and mentorship for Singapore content creators.
The course will be helmed by SP Lecturer Aaron as well as Leonard and Trev of Trevmonki.
Aaron Tan has weathered TV Dramas, Comedy Series, Music Videos, TVCs and Documentaries, in his decade-long journey through the Media Industry, as a Creative Director, Screenwriter & Independent Musician.
He continues to pursue his undying passion for storytelling / content creation, and all things creative, through research & teaching work, as a lecturer in Singapore Polytechnic.
He is currently interrogating the boundaries of story crafting in the fluid Transmedia storytelling universe, as well as supervising the script development of two ongoing 360 productions that will be uploaded to MediaCorp’s online digital service, Toggle.
Leonard Lau and Trev Tham understand that consumers want quality and relevant content. It is this conviction that drove the Singaporean duo to conceive “Trevmonki”, a video entertainment channel.
Since Oct 2013, their original comedy skits, web series, travel films and games challenges have been well received by 18-34 year olds, amassing over 33 million online views.
Notable brand collaborations include KFC, Red Bull, Brand’s Essence of Chicken and Grab.
Outside of work, both continue to take steps towards realizing their dream of becoming filmmakers. Leonard’s passions lie in photography, videography & graphic design whilst for Trev, dance and acting.
