Course Objective

To train participants to read and interpret information shown in a Ship General Arrangement (GA) plan as well as other related ship plans so as to have a good understanding of the various spaces in a ship, material selection and anti-piracy features.

With the acquired knowledge and skills, participants will have the confidence and understanding to navigate in the different spaces of a ship. It will also prepare the participants to respond rightly to emergency situations on board a ship.

Course Outline

Introduction

A brief introduction to the various merchant ship types, their functions and characteristic features of ship type.

General Arrangement Plans
Interpret and understand the various information and layouts shown in the GA Plans.

Systems and ship structural arrangement

Understand the systems and ship’s structural arrangement for the following merchant ship types:

• Container ship
• Oil tanker
• LNG
• RORO vessels
• FPSO
• Cruise ships

Ship safety, security and emergency-response features

Understand the safety, security and emergency-response features on board a ship.

Visit to a ship
A day visit to a ship will be planned but conduct of the visit is subject to availability of a suitable ship and approval/permission granted by the owners and relevant parties at that particular point of time.

Certification / Accreditation

• Certificate of Attendance (electronic Certificate will be issued)
A Certificate of Attendance will be awarded to participants who meet at least 75% attendance rate

Course Fees

Full Course Fees (before GST): $1,300.00

Applicants/Eligibility GST Fee (after GST)
Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, LTVP+ Holders and Others $117.00 $ 1,417.00

Singaporeans aged 25 years and above may use **SkillsFuture Credit balance to offset respective course fees.

b) For payment via PayNow, please enter the UEN No. T08GB0056ACET and indicate the invoice/registration number. 

*With effect from 1 August 2021, cheque payment will not be available.

2. All successful applicants will be notified with a letter of confirmation via email.
