Course Introduction
The PCA course is a tuition programme to prepare students for chartered accountancy examinations administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Students should note that they will not receive any certificate or award of any qualification from Singapore Polytechnic as the syllabus is based on ICAEW examinations and the course is meant to prepare ICAEW exam candidates to sit for the professional examinations. Upon passing the examinations and fulfilling all other necessary requirements stipulated by ICAEW, the successful candidate will have earned himself the renowned ACA designation.

What is the ACA?
ACA stands for Associate of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. The ACA is regarded globally as one of the leading business and finance qualifications, and is recognised and valued in practice, industry, commerce and the public sector. On 4 April 2017, ICAEW signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). Students who earns the ACA designation will also be recognised as a fully qualified member of ISCA.

At Singapore Polytechnic, the PCA programme for each of the 5 modules below will be offered progressively. What is in the ACA Curriculum?
There are 15 modules over three levels – Certificate, Professional and Advanced Level.

Suitable For
Targeted Learners with assumed skills and knowledge as stated below (or the equivalence).

Besides the required skills and knowledge, interested students should also note that they should meet the eligibility requirements to register as an ICAEW student candidate before enrolling for the PCA programme. Enrolling for the PCA programme does not entitle the student to qualify as an ICAEW candidate.

Registering with ICAEW as a student candidate as well as for examinations is subject to ICAEW’s schedules and deadlines according to their website. Students should note that it is their responsibility to ensure that they are registered successfully with ICAEW as a student as well as for the exams they are planning to attempt.

SP and eligible local polytechnics students or alumni who have enrolled for PCA programme are advised to approach the PCA course coordinator for special arrangements relating to registration as a student while all other students may register online directly with ICAEW. Students should also note that they are required to pay student registration fees as well as examination fees to ICAEW online directly. SP and eligible local polytechnics students and alumni enjoy preferential rates on ICAEW charges and are advised to approach the PCA course coordinator for more information.

Tuition fees are charged on modular basis at $642 (including GST) per module. The tuition fees are to be paid to Singapore Polytechnic and it includes the official study pack from ICAEW (excluding permissible textbooks).
 


Minimum Entry Requirements
Assumed Skills and Knowledge Level of:
ICAEW Certificate in Finance, Accounting and Business (CFAB); or Singapore Polytechnic Diploma in Accountancy (DAC); or Other Polytechnic Diploma in Accountancy or University Degree in Accountancy or other equivalent degree/qualification.

Withdrawal and Deferment
Withdrawal and deferment notice must be made in writing to the Professional & Adult Continuing Education (PACE) Academy, Singapore Polytechnic via email accordingly:

For withdrawal cases, the portion of course fee to be refunded is based on the date of notice as follows:

Classroom
  • 2 weeks before the commencement of the course - Full refund
  • Less than 2 weeks before commencement of the course - 70% refund
  • On or after date of commencement - No refund
E-Learning
  • There will be no refund or transfer of course once the account has been created.
The Singapore Polytechnic reserves the right to cancel or postpone any of the courses. Applicants will be duly notified and where applicable, the full fees will be refunded.

The Singapore Polytechnic also reserves the right to amend the fees charged or the period and duration of the courses.

The data provided to Singapore Polytechnic will be kept strictly confidential and will be used for the purpose of course administration. The data may be passed on to the relevant organisations that require the information related to the course.

c) Cheques
Please make cheques payable to “Singapore Polytechnic”. Do cross the cheque and write the Registration Reference ID, Applicant Name and NRIC/FIN number at the back of the cheque. When you have completed required details, you may mail the cheque here.

Please note that an administrative charge of $15 will be imposed for any returned cheques from the bank or financial institution.
