Course Objective

This course provides training to ensure that participants are able to launch and take charge of a survival craft or rescue boat (other than a fast rescue boat), operate the survival craft engine, manage survivors and use locating devices.

Course Outline

Introduction & Safety, Abandon Ship drill procedures, Survival Craft (Lifeboat, Life craft), Launching arrangements, Evacuation and recovery of Lifeboat, Action to be taken when clear of ships Lifeboat engine practical, Rescue Boat OBM, Handling Survival craft and rescue boat in rough weather, Actions to be taken when aboard a survival craft, Methods of Helicopter rescue, Hypothermia, Radio Equipment, Medical First Aid, Drills in launching life craft, Drills in launching and recovering lifeboat.

Minimum Requirements

Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, have basic working knowledge of English, have at least 6-months sea service, basic knowledge of ship terminology and be physically and medically fit for strenuous training activity, including entry into water from a height. Medical Fitness Report is required. (Please download the medical form here)

Certification / Accreditation

>• Singapore Maritime Academy will issue Result Slip which has to be exchanged for a Certificate of Proficiency from MPA, Singapore (STCW 2010 VI/2). | 101215

Suitable for

Deck and Engine Cadets for the issue of CoC3 and CoC5 respectively.
