With changing consumption of content on mobile devices and social media, human resources experts expect demand for talent in the digital arena to increase. Similarly, global media landscapes have seen a rise in digital content platforms and distribution networks. From TV broadcasters and news agencies and to other content publishers such as SMEs and government agencies, there is a big push towards meaningful and engaging digital content, both in the form of video content.
MCI’s Study of Freelancers in Infocomm Media and Design Sectors (2015) has highlighted critical skills development in the areas of IP development and conceptualisation. Specific areas include story development, scriptwriting, transmedia storytelling, and digital media production.
The course aims to equip media and non-media professionals to be writers and content creators of children’s entertainment who can craft stories for factual and entertainment programmes for TV and digital media platforms.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
• Conceptualise, develop and pitch original ideas and stories for digital media platforms
• Apply the art and craft of storytelling for children
• Write creative content for children’s entertainment
• Understand how to produce content for children’s entertainment
This short course is targeted at participants seeking employment opportunities in, or looking to expand their job scope to include content producer job functions in broadcast and media companies.
Minimum Entry Requirements / Assumed Skills and Knowledge
Participants should ideally have basic writing skills with at least a B4/C5 in English for GCE O-Levels.
Award / Certification / Accreditation
Participants upon achieving 75% attendance rate and passing all the prescribed assessments will be awarded the Certificate of Performance (electronic Certificate).
